Jomo Kenyatta International Airport has been flooded by the persistent torrential rains that have caused devastation around the nation (JKIA).
Due to the severe rain on Friday, travellers encountered a problem wherein certain necessary services became blocked.
Additionally, several of the airport’s roofs are leaking, which prevents Terminal 1C—which is home to international airlines including Qatar, Lufthansa, Ethiopia, Turkish, and Rwanda—from operating.
It was unclear to the travellers whether or not their travels would continue.
Such an occurrence at the airport has been observed previously.
In November last year, another viral video of a leaking roof at JKIA went viral, but Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen blamed it on what he termed poor workmanship by the contractor and engineers who did renovations at Terminal 1C and 1E in the previous government of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
CS Murkomen, speaking then, assured Kenyans that the renovations would be redone according to the required standards.
