National Super League side Mara Sugar FC trounced Silibwet Leon’s 4-0 making them qualify for the Kenyan Premier League for the very first time at the Awendo Green Stadium on Saturday.
Their promotion has been long coming. In the 2023-24 season they have been one of the best sides.
From the 35 matches played they have won 24, drawing 6 and losing 5 to accumulate 78 points.
They are left with three matches left to the conclusion of this season’s National Super League campaign.
“This [team] begun as corporate social responsibility and now see, we’re in the KPL. For us there is no celebration, we are still fighting for the title and that is where the focus is,” Ambani said, in reference to the fight for the gong where they are facing a strong challenge from Mathare United, second on the log on 74 points.
Mara becomes the first team from Masailand to grace the KPL.
