After the military coup in Niger, France soon wants to evacuate its citizens from the West African country. The Swiss foreign department is aware of the departure flights and is in contact with Swiss citizens on site.
The French Foreign Ministry said the evacuation should begin on Tuesday. Other Europeans who wanted to leave the country could also come with them. Around 500 to 600 French citizens are in the country.
The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (EDA) told the Keystone-SDA news agency that it was in contact with the French authorities and the Swiss on the ground. The EDA did not provide any further information on Tuesday
