President William Ruto has appointed Dr Abdi Mohamed as the chairman of the Social Health Authority Board.
Mohamed replaces Timothy Olweny, who was appointed in November 2023.
The new chairman will serve in the role for three years, effective September 17, 2024.
Before his appointment, Mohamed has been serving as the Social Health Authority Independent Board Director.
Health CS Deborah Barasa has consequently appointed Olweny to be the Chairperson of the Board of the National Cancer Institute for three years.
Mohamed also served as Takaful Umbrella Fund Trustee to help oversee the operations of the scheme and support growth and appropriate investments.
He was also an Independent Director at Villgro Kenya providing oversight on investment deals as well as feedback, guidance, and support to incubate.
Mohamed was the National Chair of the Kenya Association of Private Hospitals.
