Mercy Kwamboka, a student at the University of Nairobi (UoN) Chiromo Campus, was found dead, with her body dumped in a thicket in Kasarani’s Mwiki area, Nairobi.
According to the family, Mercy disappeared from her home in Pipeline on September 28 after receiving a phone call at 11 pm. She was later found dead under mysterious circumstances.
Stella Kerubo, Kwamboka’s mother, spoke to the media on Wednesday, October 9, describing the severe mutilation of her daughter’s body, including how acid had been poured on her hands.
“They tortured her a lot because her leg was broken like sugarcane, and her hands had been doused with acid. She had also been pulled for a certain distance,” said Kerubo.
The first witness, whose identity is concealed for his safety, described how he discovered Kwamboka in the thicket. The witness said he found Kwamboka lying without her trousers, with her phone, blanket, and one shoe beside her.
It is reported that Kwamboka’s perpetrators had intended to kill her since her belongings were found at the same location as her body.
“I came and found her lying here, without trousers but just wearing her undergarments. There was a phone, and behind the phone was Ksh 1,000. There was also a blanket, and one black shoe,” said the witness.
