Two directors of Silver Bells Academy were arrested by police in Eldoret after they subjected 23 candidates at the institution to a fake Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examination.
According to Moiben sub-county Commissioner Dancan Okwach, the directors of the private institution situated at Kimumu Estate on the outskirts of Eldoret city are being questioned for issuing the Grade 6 pupils with photocopies of last year’ KPSEA assessment papers.
Mr. Okwach said the school is not formally registered with the Ministry of Education, adding that the learners were not listed to sit for the assessment to enable them progress to Grade 7 (junior school) next year.
A team from the Ministry of Education, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) officials and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are currently at the school.
Uasin Gishu County Director for Education John Thiring’i is set to address the press on the matter.
