In the last moments of the match, Cole Palmer scored twice to help Chelsea overturn a 3-2 deficit and defeat Manchester United 4-3 at Stamford Bridge on Thursday.
Before United stormed back and claimed a 3-2 lead, the Blues had led 2-0. But due to the penalty and Palmer’s deflected shot, Mauricio Pochettino’s team stunned Manchester United and won 4-3 in spectacular fashion.
However, the two-goal cushion was short-lived.
After a mistake by Moises Caicedo, Garnacho drew one back for the Red Devils, and Bruno Fernandes equalised with a guided header just before halftime.
Chelsea attempted to tie the score after halftime, but Garnacho nodded in his second goal, and Gallagher struck the crossbar in stoppage time.
After Diogo Dalot had fouled Noni Madueke, Palmer had other plans and made it 3-3 with another penalty.
The former Manchester City player then completed his hat-trick by slamming a deflected shot past Andre Onana.
